Changes in the legal market in 2023
Now, we'll have a chat with Kalinda from our legal team here in Sydney, who's going to give an overview and an update on what's happening in the legal market as we've kicked off 2023.

[Transition to Kalinda's Insights]

Kalinda Campbell: Hi, Catherine. How are you?

Catherine Kennedy: I'm well, thank you. Yeah, the sun is shining, which is nice. So, what's been happening in the legal space?

Kalinda Campbell: I've noticed two major changes this year in the legal space. Firstly, firms that had everyone working fully remote during COVID-19 are now implementing strict policies requiring legal support staff to be in the office full time. It will be interesting to see how that develops.

Secondly, there's a structural change with some top-tier firms implementing a Hub structure. This means support staff are grouped together, and work is allocated to a generic inbox accessible by all staff, ensuring work continuity even when staff are on leave. I expect a demand for more float secretaries due to these changes.

Catherine Kennedy: Interesting insights. How are candidates reacting to this Hub model?

Kalinda Campbell: People are divided. Some are happy with the efficiency it brings, while others are not quite satisfied with the restructure. It's a mix of reactions.

Catherine Kennedy: Thanks for sharing that. If anyone with legal support experience is watching, I'm sure you and the team would be happy to talk to them.

Kalinda Campbell: Definitely, we have a lot of roles on at the moment. Always happy to have a conversation.

Catherine Kennedy: Great. Thanks for talking to us. Thanks, Kath.
